    Default Micro bevel ala Zowada...

My search engine skills just suck. I've searched and searched but can't find any discussions of using a micro bevel finish ala Tim Zowada.

Does anyone have links to such threads, or have an opinion on whether it is a useful technique?

My 2H2H had come with what is arguably THE BEST edge I've ever experienced.

    Thoughts?

Are you looking for information on "how to" "what is" or Tim's "micro bevel" ? Cause, I just put { Micro Bevel } in the search box and came up with tons of info on it. Let's just assume he does it like everybody else and then it is practice time on the hones for you :<0)
Good judgment comes from experience, and experience....well that comes from poor judgment.

Here is one big thread that also links Tim's website info on double or micro bevel

Micro bevel is achieved by adding a layer of tape at the finishing stone stage. This technique has been around for a long time, and not only for razors.

Thanks gents... I should have been more detailed.

I know what it is. I know where to find Tim's instructions (not that instructions are really needed).

I am curious what the thoughts are from those who use it regularly or tried and decided against it.

As far as the search engine.. I tried 'Micro Bevel', 'Micro + Bevel', 'Micro+Bevel', 'Micro AND Bevel' and it got every bevel-set thread ever written but nothing discussing pros and cons of the Micro Bevel.. I svck at the internet. Am I supposed to use brackets if I want to find only results with BOTH words??

I use microbevels when there seems to be an issue with the steel at the finishing stage. Either bad geometry from honewear or a temper issue, will not allow for a good edge to form, in those cases micro-bevel usually it works. Most of the time micro-bevel is not needed.
