I've really had a tough March, but my saving grace is giving myself a great, BBS-caliber shave to relax. In recent months, I've forgotten how to hone the blade in order to achieve it. In fact, I've forgotten how to do it about three times in the five years I've been straight shaving. I don't mind missing a spot, it's just when the blade isn't capable of getting it. I just lost the ability to get those neck and chin whiskers and cut myself when I was determined to give myself the kind of shave I'm accustomed to having. I couldn't sleep last night and then about 2-3 AM last night I got it figured it out. I'll give credit to gssixgun because I noticed something he did in honing videos that I had gotten away from doing. I had gotten into the habit of moving the edge at only a slight diagonal as I went across the stone. But I moved the edge at a more pronounced downward angle as in the video and I got the old groove back. Boy my face feels great, first time in quite a while. Hopefully I won't forget again. Really feels great! Thanks gssixgun!
