    Default Pumas love Norton

Just an observation here: I have honed a number of Pumas, currently in the process of honing another one (yes, the fat girl ) - and once again I seem to get very good results just off 4K and 8K.

I mean, I get good results from the Norton combo with many razors - it just seems that Pumas love this more than others.

    Cheers

That's unfortunate. I was hoping to eventually coax a top-notch shave out of one of my Pumas someday, but I have a strong dislike for the Norton.

I see I need to clarify:

I just meant that I get further along in terms of sharpness and edge feel with the Norton combo on Pumas than on many other razors. I still use other stuff after the 4K/8K. Almost all razors I have see the 4K, but some skip the 8K as I am not too crazy about it. Instead I might do Belgian Blue (or skip it) and Belgian Yellow, some go to Swaty, some to Escher, etc. However, I find that Pumas love my 8K more than other razors

I don't have a TOS and / or other apocryphal hones as you do, Michael - so they might work even better, I don't know...

    Cheers

I found the same thing when I honed my small Puma on the Norton. After the 4K/8K it was already so sharp that I did not really need to go further to get a great shave. I did take it to the coticule after that anyway and it is definately one of my top shavers. These razors really take a very sharp edge fairly easily in my experience.
