Had a request to hone one of these.
    Anyone experienced them ?
    Price makes me wary.

I have a Comoy brush and it has proven to be good quality. It has hardly shed a bristle and has become my go to brush over more expensive brushes. I suppose like most they have out sourced for the razors. Let us know what you think if you do end up honing it. Those pictures don't look greatly promising though.

I'm smoking one of many Comoy tobacco pipes I own as I type this. A very old and venerable brand. Never heard of a Comoy razor though ........

I don't think Comoy's of London, celebrated pipe makers, is the same as Comoy Razors.

Francois Comoy and his brothers started off in 1825 in France before Henri Comoy came to Seven Dials (now unimaginatively called Cambridge Circus - Agatha Christie would find that a mystery) in 1879. The business became H. Comoy & Co. Ltd. in 1914. In 1921 sales in America were taking off and the House of Comoy was born.

Comoy's merged with Cadogan investments in 1929. In WW2, although they had a magnificent factory in Pentonville, pipe production nearly ceased altogether - it took until 1950 to get anywhere near pre-war status. Although the merger with Cadogan was only an umbrella type merger which allowed them to still sell under their own name, by the 1980s Cadogan's had taken over completely.

Nowhere in this short history (thanks to Derek Green mostly) are straight razors mentioned. However, they must have imported razors and/or had razors made for them:

This came from an Ebay listing in which the seller said the razor was stamped with 'Japan'. Here is another Comoy's of London Ebay listing, still current:

The makers mark is different to the modern Comoy mark, though:

The modern day Comoy seems to make DE razors, SE razors, mugs, brushes, shaving soap, straight razors, etc, etc, and most hits seem to be from New Zealand and Australia, with some in the UK and USA. One guy has said that he bought a Comoy DE razor and brush set and when it arrived it looked just like a Weishi razor and the brush had 'Weishi' marked on it. Not really a definite ID though, as the brush may well have been bundled with the razor to make the gift set up. Who knows?

Incidentally, the Aussie shave-shops that stock Comoy Coconut Oil Soap all say that it is made in Australia - another bit of weirdness to add to the mix!

The clue could be in the cases:

    Name: weishi-case.jpg

Look virtually the same to me. The Weishi safety razor has quite a following and appears to be a decent shaver, and the couple of reviews posted on the web for the Comoy straight razors reckon they are good, but my dad thinks that Kathy Kirby was good, so you have to make allowances for other peoples opinions!

    Regards,
    Neil

Return it . I have 3 old razors like that , i think it is a heat treatment mistake . A two rusian razors and Henkels 38 , i hone the spine on the diamond plate , untill is flat and after i hone them with a few layers of tape .
Dont do this only to make it usable return it and get your money back .
