Thanked: 55cloth contamination drying when honing
What sort of cloth do you guys use to clean and dry your razor before checking edges, tests etc. Have been using cheap microfibre which leaves bits on the razor and if I forget to blow off and skin strop then contaminates my hone requiring a wash before continuing. Assuming there is something obvious that's better.

I hone on the kitchen bench and just use paper towels or tissues which are both within arm reach. If it gets a bit wet or dirty I just replace.
My wife calls me......... Can you just use Ed

I've never dried a hone,,, after using it, I clean it, then I place it in a dish drying rack until it's ready for storage.

Thanked: 3795To prevent/remove contamination of the hone, I hone over a cafeteria tray. This allows me to be very liberal with the water when rinsing my hones. (It helps add to the humidity of the house in the winter.) I tilt the hone and squirt 5-10 mls of water to clear off any debris.

Micro fiber towel. Works well for me. Wipe away from the edge. I also use old wash clothes and towels.
