Randy, Thanks for the vid. I think I've gotta try it!
Yeah, .... If gugi doesn't have one, I know I have 2 older 3G iPhones that if they'll still take a charge and I think they're good to go, I'd be glad to send one your way.
Let me know.
Regards,
Howard
EDIT: Well, went to try charging one this morning and I couldn't find them. The wife said we gave them to our daughter several years ago.
Once again what I think I know and reality are strangers!! Sorry!!!Last edited by SirStropalot; 05-19-2015 at 02:59 PM.

Thanked: 2209My thinking on this is that most of the new guys who come over have smart phones. I do have 2 stereo microscopes but they are a bit of a pain to setup in terms of space used and getting the focus. This is small and more powerful than my 40x scopes ( which is more than adequate for what we do) but the resolution will not be as good. I just think it will be a good option to have for the new guys. The one additional item needed will be a light source from above that can have the direction/angle adjusted.
I also want to hear from you guys what are some limitations that you can think of and what would be an improvement.Randolph Tuttle, a SRP Mentor for residents of Minnesota & western Wisconsin

Thanked: 2209Gugi & Sirstropalot...thanks a bunch for the offer but I will take care of the phone here. I am just going to go to a phone repair shop and see what they have. They might have some ideas!

The microscope as shown is a transmissive microscope. Meaning light must pass through the object in view.
Now, if the light was on the top transparent plate and angled toward the part to be viewed, it might work as a reflective 'scope.
SMMV

I have seen one that used the lens from a penlight in a holder that was held to the 'phone by a clip.
