    Default Aust Chip Repair

Had a brain fart when shaving yesterday and had my razor in my left hand and reached for my brush with my right and I heard a tink. Had to have been the razor hitting the faucet. The Aust had been shaving fantastically prior to this.

After a little cooling off period I looked at the edge through my loop and it looked like a .45 bullet had gone through the edge, just at the tip. Well maybe not quite that bad but a nice half circle.

Was able to get the chip out with my 3k Nani and then to the 5, 8 and 12. Stropped on fabric and then leather.

Shaved with it today and it is back to normal, if not a little bit better.

Glad I have spent a good deal of time practicing with my practice razor as this is the first time I have gone below the 12k with one of my good razors.

Still upset for doing that, but feel so good about being able to do the repair by myself.

Nice work on the retouch and hone...these things definitely happen. I too have found that a "whoopsie" or two has driven me to work on the hones a bit more, as well as instilled additional confidence that I can in fact fix some of these issues I have found on razors. If you can find a couple of cheap finds that have minor blade issues, work on a couple of those and bring them back to health. You will find that it is not as hard as it is initially intimidating. Then.....you will be looking for razors with problems to rehab!
