    Default Honing a Trigger

Okay, not honing but polishing. I was fitting a new trigger to a Colt Gold Cup today and after a lot of filing I took out an old medium Arkansas Oil Stone to polish where I had filed the top and bottom of the trigger.

After the past couple months of using very well lapped stones for honing, I could feel every little ripple and imperfection in that stone. I've had it for about 45 years and had always considered that it had a flat surface.

Funny how opinions can change when we discover what really flat fine stones feel like.

I know what you mean, since taking up honing every honing stone in my house, whether for razors or not has been meticulously lapped flat.
