One thing the vids can't really do well is convey how very little pressure is used on the blade even when setting the bevel. The bevel, I'll bet, is much thinner on a SR than a knife so you need less pressure than you are used to, possibly. You could wind up working on the shoulder of the bevel and just missing the edge.

You might also want to check to see if the razor has a warp/twist in the blade which is fairly common. If it does you'll need to use a heel forward rolling X stroke to compensate.

Post some photos of the razor and your stones, might be more going on there than just a simple honing.

    Did you lap your stone?

Did a bengall last week took 40 minutes to set the bevel from nothing after restoring. Use too much pressure on a hollow ground and you will flex the edge and tjst will cause more issues. You may be better to raise the spine like a knife to get the edges to meet and then drop back to flat on the stone to get the right angle Aka Gssixgun breadknifing vid on YouTube
