Not quite sure what the question is,,, if the razor still shaves comfortably,,, then just strop it,,, if not,,, a few strokes(6 or 8) on a high grit(10K or higher) hone,,, strop & shave test,,,,,,

Honing SR is not the same as honing a knife. With a knife you usually stop with a 1000 grit hone. That's where you start with a SR. Then a progression from 1k, 4k, 8k and a finisher like 10 or 12k.

Honing a SR is different enough from honing a knife that I would not try it on my only usable razor as a first attempt. If you have a spare SR I'd practice on that first to see how it goes. There are quite a few posts from people with experience honing knives that have asked after the fact where they went wrong as they can't understand why.

If just refreshing an edge that is just starting to tug then a couple laps on a finishing stone with no pressure. This is the best way to start your honing experience. Get a practice razor if you plan to do any more than that. Lynn Abrams has a good video on YouTube on refreshing a razor try checking it out. Good luck

But a high grit hone is going to cost him, and even then you might need some more experience , trying to do it yourself at first means you don't know what is shave ready ,thats why you need to have it done first , much cheaper and gets you a really truly a shave ready edge to learn on, So many want to save money buy honing their own , but until you have a bunch of razors it's not cheaper and even then how often to you hone? My razors stay shave ready for months on end ,, Now you can save some money and pick up a good barbers hone , of course if you need a bevel set it's going to be a lot of work, Tc
