When everything just seems to go right
I haven't been on here in a while. Even though I have not participated in the forum I have not stopped participating in the destruction of facial hair with cold steel. Of my many razors I decided my Dovo needed a touchup as it was pulling and not inflicting the destruction I desire. After using my 8k, 12k, and pastes I was surprised with an edge worthy of great tales and songs. I am by no means an expert at honing. I have enough skill to keep me going comfortably. Every so often though I amaze myself. This is one of those times. Happy to be able to achieve this level from time to time. The ongoing challenge of duplicating it consistently continues...

Your face tells enough sharpening or not. I'm sharpening check on his face, though not always. It so happens that sharpened razor cuts the hair well and does not want to shave well.

It's a great feeling when you get that edge just right.

I agree. I find a large number of passes on my 12k stone really smooths out the edge and makes for a very comfortable shave. When I first started using it I wasn't doing enough strokes. The edges were good but not smooth. Some of the other razors I have are more difficult to get that smooth shave. I have 3 or 4 that I can consistently get the edge where I want. The rest have been more challenging. The journey continues.
