Will there be a JaNorton 2016?
+1 - There are so many ways to hone/learn to hone...but for me this was a path that worked.
Some thoughts...
You have not mentioned what you use to lap the Norton 4/8 - it is a key step
Some of the Norton 4/8s come with a 4K side that has to be lapped a lot to get "smooth"
You lap off the pencil grid but the surface will seem (and feel) porous.
Keep going...it's like Glenn's comment about Ivory, once you feel it you will know..
I'm hopping that the JaNorton 4/8 is like the Olympics, and will be back in 2016...

Thanked: 11Well yes a finisher would probably improve things then. The thing I struggled with the most though wasn't the lack of a finisher. I had to easy up on the pressure on my finishing strokes.
But yeah you should get a finish stone of some sort. And experiment with pressure and stropping. After a while it will feel as if the planets suddenly has aligned and you'll get the edges you want.
