Thanked: 0Looking for a honing service in germany (or europe)
Hi im new to the forum.
I bought a new TI a few weeks ago. The razor was not shave ready. I assumed i could sharpen it, because i have some experience with sharpening knives, but the results are poor . I know that i set a new bevel because i was able to feel a small burr. From there i honned it with light pressure on some 5,1 and 0.3 micron film. The razor is sharp but the shave is uncomfortable. Maybe is just my poor shaving technique
So does anybody know a good sharpening service in germany (or europe), that can evaluate my sharpening and sharpen the razor?

Martin of Rasurpur.de - Ihre Erste Adresse im Web für die Nassrasur. has honed for friends of mine, and he did a good job. Alternatively, consult the relevant German forums, where you will find additional resources.

Thanked: 3795I can evaluate your honing from a few thousand miles away!
I'm guessing of course, but if you raised a burr and proceeded from there, then you probably have a sharp but very chipped (therefore very uncomfortable) edge.
Knife sharpening involves raising a burr. Razor honing does not.

Thanked: 0I am not a German speaker thats why in looking for info on this forum Thanks for the sharpening service.
It seems that i have a lot of reading to do
If i am not supposed to rise a burr, how should i know that the edge is properly set? Do i need a microscope?
How should that kind of edge be fixed?

There is also honing services offered here in the Straight Razor Place classifieds. I'm sure one of these honers is based in Germany.
