Honing Trouble with Turner & Co
hi everybody,
after tried 3 hours to hone a TURNER brand straight razor. i came here to have some advice. i bought this razor as restorated, and exactly like a butter knife. once i honed it, i thought it was ok to shave. so i put it in a drop and forgot. tonight when i wanted to test. i realized it does not shave/very painfull. so i took it again. first, i used 1500 with 6 layers of tape. not better. so go back red DMT, hold the spine 10°, not better neighter. then i get down and take blue DMT hold the spine a little more and i see it goes barely better but still not cut arm hairs. i continue with red one for a while. then go back to 1500.
i tried this procedure for 1h (return back to red one, try again blue, continue with 1500 and go back to red DMT ...) nothing make the bevel to go further. but anyway i continued once to see if something may be changed. so 2k > 4K > coticule, final result is bevel is not sharpen.
well after 3 hours to work with a blade like this one, makes you tired and the hour is 1 AM here. I stopped for today and gonna take it back tomorrow. but i really don't understand what can be wrong with the blade/my processus. and what to do for it shave. i've already honed many razors before, so this is not my first time. but with this razor i can not find the solution.
i add some pictures for you see the blade. and i will appreciate any advice for get the bevel sharpen and better than a butter knife.
thanks in advance. and sorry for my english, i'm really so tired so there may be some phrases does not mean anything.
