WOOHOO I finally acquired a whole honing progression with the arrival today of my 1K Chosera. This weekend starts my "practice practice practice"
Now I have the:
1K Chosera
4K/8K Norton
12K Naniwa SS
3 Yellow Lakes
1 thin Charnley Forrest
DMT 325 and the 400/1000 diamond plate from CKTG
Lapping papers that were PIF'd to me by Euclid440
I told my wife I will never ever need to buy another stone now!.................. Uh-huh

Lucky boy! I'm a bit jealous. I have Naniwa SS's in 1K, 5K and 10K, with a DMT 325C. I'd love to add the 3K, 5K and 12K. Especially the 12K.

Thanked: 3795As soon as possible you need to correct that statement. You were too much of a novice to know what you were saying and were not aware of several critically important hones that are absolutely necessary for a comfortable shave. The cost should be relatively comparable to a typical woman's shoe budget.

Thanked: 20I need you to be my spokesman!
Now I just need to learn to use these. I am driving myself crazy. I have watched Glen and Lynn videos and must have been that kid in class staring out the window! I have yet been able to establish a bevel and I dull it even more with the 4k/8k. I'm an idiotLast edited by TheFiveO; 10-25-2015 at 04:58 AM.

Thanked: 3795If you are bothering with the 4/8k without getting a bevel first, then yes, temporarily, you are an idiot.
Let's fix that.
Put away ALL of your other hones except for the Chosera 1k. After you have done that, please tell us about the razors you are attempting to hone. Pictures would be nice, if possible. You MUST get a shaving edge off of that before bothering with anything else.
