Dr Balfanz is a Dovo product. A tribute to an author on German industrial history.
It is same as another Dovo model, the Bismark, only more plain.
I have one and find it to be a good blade. Seems made for the Japanese market?

Yes Tom, that was my understanding as well, made for the Japanese market.
So after the shave I tried to touch it up on a hard Jnat and again, it got chippy. Softer jnat fixed the issue. Will shave with it in few days and report back.
I think this will be a razor that prefers a softer stone and not the hard grey ones.
Good plan. German inox is like that. 12k Naniwa is all I could say.
Escher seems to make them harsh. Lots of strop! :D

Gave the rams horn Le Grelot some love tonight.
Just got done doing some antiquing and found this translucent arky, no label but it’s flat and looks to be used very little it at all, I gave it a bath with some dish soap and ran a knife over it. I just need to chamfer the edges before I try a razor on it.

Unfortunately I shaved this morning but luckily it was with a razor that was finished on my surgical black, I’ll hone that same razor in this translucent and see what’s what for the next shave.

Koraat at the top, Reynolds in the middle, and Hives on bottom.
The Koraat and Reynolds just needed touching up on the finisher. Both see a good amount of use so it was time for a refresh. I shaved with the Reynolds a few days ago and it is back in business. Smoooooth shaver for sure, and one of my favorites.
I have owned the Hives a few months but just got around to completing the hone work on it today. It was destroying the fine hairs on my arm which takes a significantly keen razor. Sure enough, it gave a very close shave, as good as any razor I own. It is fun when a razor surprises me like that, especially when it comes from the oldest in my collection.
I'll see how the Koraat does tomorrow.
Yeah, what Steel/Mike said-That is a super score on a beautiful trans ark!
And Sonny, I especially love that FR in the middle with the carved (bone?) scales. Mine that is similar is one of my best shavers.
Yeah, that Reynolds is special. A member here carved the bone scales for me.
I have six more of them, and they are going to turn into a 7 day set one of these days. :D
