You can also raise a little slurry with the DMT/Atoma then ‘break’ it down some with another hone or nagura.

That’s a lot of honing. But looks like a fun time!
Planning on grabbing an atoma 1200 soon just for that purpsose
'IF' all you want to do is raise some slurry and aren't worried about flattening the hone, the DMT card size would work well and is a lot less expensive than a full size.

My needs to be honed pile grew large.
There was some small chip removal.
A few full progressions, and a few touch ups.
There was also one that showed a chip after the 3K, and it went back in the bucket for next time. I see many SOTD’s coming up.
Nice looking blades Sean! All look like my favourite 7/8 size
Thanks Al, there are several big, old, beauties in there. It was a fun afternoon of honing.
Took back the Dr. Balfanz to the hones. Did, 3k, 5K, 8K but didn't like the edge. Pulled out the Jnats. Went from left to right, Tenjyou with DN followed by Koma(middle stone) with DN and then kiita with asagi tomo. Softer stone comparing to the very hard grey ones and I think that's what made the difference. The stainless steel reacted very well to it, no chipping or anything. Finished on slurry. Shave was very smooth.
I tried to take a close pic of the kiita to show the interesting pattern and when looking at the picture I can see some Su. Not all stones with Su are suitas. I have a barbers kiita from Alex G. with the same pattern, small pinholes.

Honed up this beauty today. The edge had a few minor chips that honed out very quickly after setting a new bevel with my chosera 1k. I then proceeded with a dilucot on my Veinette coticule. Very happy with how it turned out.

For those of you who suffer from OCD, you would find the bevel on this razor visually very satisfying.:D
