Hone On Gents !!!
Little green Thuri on a Bengall last night; lovely stone, much softer than my other Thuris, gorgeous feeling to use and a really lovely edge.

Then playing around with some stones for a full British/German progression on an old German-ground, Sheffield steel razor that I've been modding/restoring.
Gwespyr, Idwal, Tam, Moughton, Charnley, Goldfisch, Escher. (Not necessarily using them in that order):

Just a couple favorites…refinished on this brick Kiita!

I keep forgetting to ask, but your pics tweaked my memory - do the fancy scalloped spines present any difficulty honing? They look like applying tape could be a problem.
.
.
Same here, they present no problem for me. The one caveat is that on custom made razors with a worked spine be sure that the edges of the scallop/worked spine have been smoothed over. If not then they will scratch your strop.
I learnt the hard way.
I have a few razors with worked spines that I have to tape before I strop.
A layer of tape is a quick and easy fix.

A few weeks back I got a lucky find in a market in Belfast (I think it was lucky anyway!):

Unfortunately I couldn't take it back to London in hand luggage, so I left with my friend for her to post over. Arrived a couple of days ago and I've cleaned up a little, not a massive amount, but enough to make it look nice. It's an ivory handled George Butler Shakespeare:

Honing progression from the bottom up:
Washita - I actually used this stone for bevel set on the last 'restoration' I did, and it worked an absolute charm. So giving it another spin.
Llyn Idwal - This Idwal is extraordinarily good. I'm probably getting on for 150 stones in the collection now (eep!), and this is happily in my top 5.
Green-Blue probably Welsh Slate - A very hard and fine stone, and proper razor finisher.

I've got a handful of other things with me, but we'll see how these three come up first...
rsbcebu on another forum has one of those and likes it very much I believe. I have one with the same etch but it’s a Bengall and lacks the ivory scales.
It was actually pictures of Richard's one that made me want one in the first place, then just happened across this one on a market stall before Christmas. And I must have been at the very top of my honing game this evening too, because it was a completely excellent shave. Pretty happy all round :)

So you have a Bengall with the same Shakespeare LLL quote on it...? Never seen one of those!
