    Here’s a Dovo that arrived in worse shape. The customer was immediately notified. I explained “I could replace the scales no charge with some scales off an old razor.” (The vintage plastic material was much stronger and nicer than the new plastic anyway, even used triple stacked washers to dress it up.)

    After the scales had been replaced it was on to the hones. The point is, if you plan on providing services for others be prepared to “hone” your customer service skills. Good luck

    Bevel set on 1K Chosera no tape.

    Good consistent work horse coticule.

    Final finish a few passes on a vintage J-nat barber hone. Shave test positive.

    Your right mike... The vintage scales look sooo much better, that the origanal scales that come on those. Yep... Happy customers are repeat customers, or customers for life. Can I ask... Why no tape?

    Hi MIke;
    I was taught not to worry about spine wear and all that matters is the very edge. It is always the customer’s prerogative tape or no tape. I prefer no tape especially on new hollow ground profiles to get a proper bevel set. After that if they want to use 1 layer of tape that is fine too. Certain razor profiles or those that require repair can benefit from using tape.

    One can only do so much to make the customer happy, this particular incident the person never acknowledged or even thanked for the extra time and effort for fixing the razor. It’s best not to worry about such things and take it personal. Just do the right thing.

    Bonus pic!!! Guess the stone, Hint, Not LI, or CF or Ayrshire. Check out the spine wear on this little wedge one.

    KIFA razor, hard ass steel, finished on a Cutlers Green.
    This is what it's all about, forget about esthetic hone wear
