Is that original wood under the (Japanese?) stone?
    It looks great!

    Thanks Maarten.

No, its not original. Just made it out of european oak. The stone is a Shoubudani and the bottom is a bit uneven, hence the fitted holder.

I was looking at the straight edges on the wood, and there I wondered if you made them. Glad you did; the hard oak suits the Shoubudani well!

Had a chance to give my new Shobudani a maiden run, used it to touch up my workhorse fixed blade. Name: IMG_0594.jpg

GD #3/4 unfortunately there won't be a 4/4 they seriously messed that up at the factory and ground it with a 1/16" dip inwards at the heel for about 1/2". It's in a better place now. RIP.

Anyways enough about that. This one had serious problems with the stabilizer that resisted initial heel leading strokes. Fixed that with le dremel. Eze lap 600 to 1k King to a lovely Les Petas I bought from Gary Haywood. He sells these beautiful coticules on his site the straightrazorspecialist. 150x40mm box and slurry stone. Dilucot first try seems OK. The HHT is a little weak but I'm willing to give it a shave test.. HHT isn't everything right, maybe it'll be buttery smooth. Only thing is it might not be as close as I'm used to.

A side note about the slurry stone. I have never seen any coticule with this type of surface patterning. Marshal sent it to me in exchange for a softer stone. This one is hard as nails and a little grainy. Looks like sandpaper. Odd.

    Will update after today's shave.

God bless and have a wonderful Sunday.
