I'm kind of bummed. I went to touch up two other razors and they have micro-chipping. Is it possible to take out micro-chipping with a 12 k? or do I need to invest in some lower grit hones sooner than planned?[/QUOTE]

Search jointing the edge. It is a light to no pressure 1-2mm push/pull stroke on the edge. 50 strokes or so later chipping should be gone and edge restored. This answer is dependant upon microchipping. I dont feel micro chips when blade edge is tested on thumbnail. In fact I have removed microchips using my thumbnail only. Ok I ran the edge along my nail , 50 strokes and checked my microchips went away. If microchips remain redo jointing on the thuri.
