Used as final finisher. After the finest stone you have, Barber delight, Nakayama, GMN200 etc.

A couple drops of Honing oil, Smiths or Glycerin mix all good. On the finest steel "Good razors" make 12 to 20 passes, check edge. Hope this helps some. Mike
That's very interesting. the green stone was sold to me under the name of vosgienne. Both of these stones act completely different.

No big deal, but my 1st hone of the year, Simple tightening of the pivot and 1k Naniwa on a nice Lauterjung Tiger which has languished many decades.

Stones can take on a life of themselves, I am almost sure I have seen your stone. If not your's one identical. Like all naturals, it could be the same region or mine for that matter. But different characteristics. That a good thing.

Here's an old shot of a CF used w/ oil on a Wusthof Stain- More or Less steel. Other types of oil can be used as well,

These two beautiful NOS Tanifuji Fukutaro razors arrived yesterday so i quickly introduced them to the hones today, a Tanifuji 666 and a Tanifuji 54 covered tang looks like they have found a welcoming home they seemed to have settled in very nicely.

Today I had a little fun. I was watching a video for my college course and decided to hone up this pain in the ass warped keen kutter royal. Took a dry king 1k and sat in front of the computer doing laps until I set the bevel. Then took out my little 4x1-1/8 Modern La Veinette coticule. Started honing dry probing the edge with my thumb pad. I then started honing on the coticule I received today from Helge (rockabilly) for the finish because it is so much harder and finer than my smaller coticule. Proceeded to do laps for about 5-10 minutes.

I then put some oil on the larger coticule and did another 5 minutes of x strokes. I find the oil less messy than water especially sitting in front of a computer.

Edge felt right on the thumb pad. Stropped and test shaved. Wonderful. It is nice to get an edge on something you've been fighting with.
