Received what appears to be a NOS 8/8 Gens razor today. 30 laps on my trusty veinette coticule was all it needed, these beasts hone themselves.

Took out my Filly yesterday: shaved off 3 days' growth, one pass ATG.
    Shave not noisier than average.

Learner, that 'burnt toast scraping' is pretty typical of a 'singing' razor. That 'singing' term is marketing at it's best... or worst depending on how you view accuracy lol.

    Cheers, Steve

Kees and Steve56 for the past two days I've been shaving with my C mon Filly while I try to find enough time to hone the 8/8 sub cero. Kees was right that it isn't as sharp as it should be. The C mon is as sharp as it should be. I should be able to finish the 8/8" this evening and will shave with it tomorrow. I do expect some noise from it because of its' width and how thin the blade is because of the full hollow grind. I will call it "singing" too, as the marketing people did.

"Singing" razor absolutely, Thiers-Issard branded there C135 steel razors, "singing" blades...and all of my Fili's sound like a scraping burnt toast, great sound, I have some very finely ground W&B's, obviously reground in the streets at some point by a grinder, and one in particular that I've said could be the Fili 14's great, great Grandfather....stellar shave, and hisses like an angry cat as it takes off a beard.

Here's my best recorded example of a singing razor in action.
A NOS shumate's maiden shave after a weeks shave free vacation.

Was a few years ago now, and I can notice changes in my shave even from then. Very little face stretching for example, unlike now.
    Taut is safe, and close..
    Cheers.

wonder if it's the Bowie music in the background.
