The Ozuku is at the top and is wet revealing the Asagi colour, whilst the Wakasa at the bottom is a very hard stone, and I don't think it is visible in the photo but has 'Goma' visible. It is not toxic or problematical at all, just an indicator of how hard this stone is. Absolutely no feedback at all from them, this Wakasa provided a lovely edge on a C 135 Thiers Issard 7/8. The Asagi is still a lovely final stone and it's edge is better than a 12k synthetic edge as far as keenness goes. Of the two the Wakasa gives a little more feedback than the Ozuku, but never the less provides a surprisingly crisp finish to the edge. Both of these stones are double sided, so I haven't sealed the bottom of either, however I did use multiple coats of shellac to seal the sides. Overall, I am very happy with my two purchases. They are both full sized and each weighs more than 1.5kg. My son has laid claim to them should I fall off the perch!
