Thread: Hone of the Day

Blew the dust off 2 of my 3 remaining hones. 10" Pike Washita in original box and a nice Norton 8" hard Arkansas.

Tried a gold dollar that needed a slight ding taken out. Need to grind the rust off my honing skills. It has been too long. Popping arm hairs above skin level. Proof is in the shave.

Update: while not as laser keen as I'm used to the edge wasn't uncomfortably pulling and left no irritation. Could use some more time on the hard ark and a very thorough stropping.

I have been using this Engels Argo to play around with some different and unusual techniques but didn't wind up with much success so....
I took it and went back to what I know...

Bevel on Norton Washita No.1
Flipped to "fine" side and then
Finished on my big ole chunk of black Arkansas
Stropped on the Washita 50 times
Linen & horse butt and.....


A 10 out of 10 shave
One multi directional pass with a little touch up for total BBS.
When I put the Aqua Velva Blue Ice on right after the menthol didn't even burn. Nothing, nope, not even a little burn.
A perfect shave quick and painless.
THAT gentlemen is the moment when you know you nailed it.
