Spent the last month honing only on Shapton's finishing with B/G Esher.

To-day's pair are some really old ones with little or no discernible hone wear sporting tiny bevels.
A Pitchford wedge with original pressed leather scales and a Henckels #12 made and stamped for John Holler of NYC, freshly pinned into some picbone.
Should be a breeze to begin with the Chosera a bit and ultimately wind-up on the BG Escher after the progression. (I hope!)

Well...It weren't so easy. The bevels got wider!
The Holler had a really bad edge and the Pitchford was one I had honed a long time ago and forgot to revisit. Magnification may have led me to expect more work!
A pile on the 1k Chosera. Pretty certain everything is evened-up.
The Pitchford wanted to back-up all the way. Lots of light stuff.
Even stropping between hones....
They have to be good after all this?

Got these on the rocks tonight. Had to thin out the "Needs Honed Cup'. It still has 4 in it but I'm closer. 2 of these just needed to be touched up. The others went from 1K to finish stone. I used a Trans Arkie on 2 of them, the Zulu on 1 and 20K on the other 3.
It's just Sharpening, right?

LOL.
ME TOO! Ha.
I'd like to say experience tells me but I'd be lying to ya. I "THINK" that the 20K can work on about any razor, being synthetic. As long as your finishing with the lightest touch. The Arkie and Zulu are Natural stones and I picked American steel for those because i "THINK" American steel is harder and can take and hold a better edge. This is my thoughts anyway. I could be completely wrong! It's just Sharpening, right?

Thanked: 563I do the same thing when I choose between my Vermio and my Oozuku. As long as the shave is good ....

Got this Talley Ho honed up tonight. Took a great edge pretty easy. Can't wait to give it a test shave. BTW, Finshed on 20K.
