The Friodur 72 1/2 had a softer jnat edge so thought I could push it further. I started with DN slurry since I had to lap the stone and then finished on hard tomo slurry. We were talking about stiction on the other thread. This stone develops a distinct feeling of increased resistance but doesn't get skippy or over grabby. I would say almost perfect feeling for me. I kept honing and checking under the scope. At some point I was starting to develop small tiny teeth at 1000x. Stopped, stropped and they went away. Back too the stone for few laps and man the shave was so close.
Now the stone. Pretty hard asagi with a nice layer of kawa, the stone becomes black at that point.

Really nice. I have one of the newer inox ones and haven’t been able to get a decent edge on it.

Had these 2 beauties for a while, got them for a steal basically. Been real busy studying for an FS exam but made some time to put these two on the chosera 1k for a little while. The puma is basically set to move on but there is tiny spot of rust that is just about out. The W&B has a real minor chip on the bevel but I managed to get all the rust out of it. Will finish these up on the chosera 1k later on when I have some more free time, figured it was better not to rush setting the bevel on these razors.

Love that Puma, and that WB is a beast!

Basil I have the same experience. Some of the inox razors dont play well with my hard Jnats. I was honing a Dr. Balfanz and the edge wasn't coming out right, switched to a softer jnat and it worked. I am testing that one with an Escher right now and at least under the scope it looks good. Shave is pending so can't say if I solved the problem but I do know that if I shaved with the edge a hard jnat left on it the shave would have sucked.
Also make sure your ohzuku is absolutely dead flat and maybe try more slurry than less.

Is this the same razor you tried? Just dig it out of my closet. I had it sent to a few people but they all said they couldn’t get it to give a cumfy shave either. I haven’t tried t on my jnat yet actually but I’ll try. It seemed to get the best edge from a hard la vert coticule I had. But still not a great edge at all.
