Different brand but blade looks very similar. I keep trying but can’t really seem to put an edge on it. Because of that I stayed away from all stainless steel razors. I didn’t want to end up with another dud.

Thanked: 4824Basil, a lot of people complain about that era of Henckels razors. I think the earlier ones using that logo are ok but the later production ones are as bad as Gold Dollars for reliability. The problem is it’s impossible to tell from that rendition of the logo what’s good or bad. I stick with the older logos when buying Henckels and have never hit one that has quality issues.

Dr Balfanz is a Dovo product. A tribute to an author on German industrial history.
It is same as another Dovo model, the Bismark, only more plain.
I have one and find it to be a good blade. Seems made for the Japanese market?

Yes Tom, that was my understanding as well, made for the Japanese market.
So after the shave I tried to touch it up on a hard Jnat and again, it got chippy. Softer jnat fixed the issue. Will shave with it in few days and report back.
I think this will be a razor that prefers a softer stone and not the hard grey ones.

Good plan. German inox is like that. 12k Naniwa is all I could say.
Escher seems to make them harsh. Lots of strop!
