Well, I just shaved with that blade on a nice cushion of Tabac lather, and wow! If anything, it was a bit smoother than my usual SB Arkie edge after a Nani 12k, and still just as sharp. I'm frankly surprised, especially as I was told that this stone might be kind of rough and closer to a soft ark than an actual graded washita. My next test will be to see if I can set a bevel on the rough side (finished to 600 grit). With some more fine work on the smooth side, I think I'll even try to see how it goes as a finisher. So far so good!
There are many roads to sharp.

Awesome!! Good work. There is nothing like Arkansas edges.
What a curse be a dull razor; what a prideful comfort a sharp one

Wait till it gets burnished, from honing. That's when its true self, will shine.

Put a few knives across it, Aaron. Then try it again.!
Try pure glycerin, for final finishing. Let us know what the stria looks like. ( irregular, even ), what grit does it remind you of.? I can push mine, to almost 8000. Typically, 3-4k with water only.
    Mike

Did these a couple days ago. Mostly 66's. About half of those are dehorned like the one on the film, the rest are stock. A W62, a 92, and a couple other oddballs in there, but all GD's. Getting ready for a flea market session.

Thanks, Bill. That is my primary objective with this project. There doesn't seem to be anyone reliable selling them shave ready. Certainly can't make any money selling these things, but you can certainly bring in new guys with them, especially when you deal with them face to face and let them watch you hone a razor or two and demonstrate strop usage. I don't know if anyone has noticed, but there have been some modest improvement in these things and they are definitely not RSO's anymore by any standards.

Thinking about honing up 30 or 40 of my vintage pile to add to the fun. I sure as hell don't need this many razors. Honestly I would be happy keeping just my Bismarcks and my full modded GDs so that leaves me several pounds of razors I could get rid of. I am thinking about doing the vendor subscription here, actually. I got to look into it a bit first. And make sure I am welcome here. Gold Dollars are a pretty hot potato, as you probably know.

What's the deal with gold dollars, does the edges not last?
I see they are popular to an extent..
