I'm glad that you were patient enough to keep at it slowly but surely to get past the chips

I hope that once you progress through the hones that the chipping will not raise it's ugly head again and that you get a great shave

I spent a couple hours on it.
That is what I am hoping as well, I had to bust out the 4/8k, I'm not too good with it so who knows about the shave. I will practice and then get a good shave with it eventually.

Even after I thought removed all the chips this particular wouldn't keep get or keep an edge. It was driving me nuts so to prove I wasn't crazy. Another person honed it today and it still had little chips in it. For once in my honing career it has more chance of it being the razor then it is my lack of skill.
