Default Water on double sided eze lap?

    Hi,

Just got the eze lap super fine and fine combo stone. The one with the green plastic in the middle. Should I avoid using it with water as it isn't a solid plate and water could get behind the diamond plates?? Am I just being paranoid?

Someone who's got one let me know.

I tried to guess which one you have,,, GOOGLED it & I don't see a reason why not to use water. Even if it gets between the components, it should dry out, without effecting the bond. I would stick with water only & not a WD-40 type.

You can use water, oil or kerosene, with water recommended for ease of use. The *only* caveat is to not leave the hone in water for long periods of time as any pore in the nickel plating will eventually allow water to enter and develop rust on the steel substrate.

I've always used water on mine. No problems so far. I wore my first one out without experiencing any other problems with it.
