Default What do I have here?

I am going to jump out and advertise my ignorance. I bought this stone a while back to use for finishing my Japanese kitchen knives. I recently got started in straight razors and am interested in learning to hone. My question is whether or not this is a good razor hone. It is a Kitayama fine, which I believe is #8000. Are any of you using this hone? Thank you.

Saw a video a few years ago of a guy sharpening his gyuto with this stone. He jumped from a DMT 1200 with no slurry on the kitayama and very quickly removed all the DMT stria. It seems to be a very fast stone, but I don't know how it does with razors. Phil from classicedge raves about it in his description on his site, says it puts some 10k stones to shame.
