Thanked: 3795TCridesHD almost set one up last year. Hopefully one can happen somewhere out there some time this year. Randy and I have not been out that way since Asheville two years ago but we might be able to make another trip. Of course it will be easier after one of us wins the PowerBall, since Randy wants to outfit an 18 wheeler as a mobile meet-up venue!
Oh, and as far as the honing time goes, pretty much what Glen said. However, if you are honing at a meet-up it can take a lot longer!

Hey Steve,
replied to your PM but I don't know if I did it right let me know if you got it I've never used the sites PM before it kind of confused me. Fall creek falls is a cool place bring a grill and some steel and rocks and you have the elements for some fun Just saw Utopians post ,would really be cool to see some of the longtime honing gurus down here I missed Ashville and was really bummed out about it.Last edited by Highwayman; 01-11-2016 at 11:58 PM.

You did it right!
Fall Creek Falls is nice - everything you could want in terms of accomodation, many stunningly beautiful waterfalls (Google it), hiking, camping, and it's close to Nashville if you're so inclined.
Townsend is the quiet side of the Smokies. Pigeon Forge is it's evil twin, but if you have kids in tow they'll be happy and amused in PF if you have someone to escort them while you hone. Cheap accomodations, 47 pancake houses and a velvet Elvis on every corner... Rumor has it that H.L. Mencken visited Pigeon Forge right before he said "No one ever lost money underestimating the taste of the American public."
Gatlinburg is quite pretty, right up against the Great Smoky Mountains National Park (like Townsend), and also has great accomodations. It's unfortunately more commercial than it used to be, and generally costs more. Moving around Gatlinburg in a car in season can be an issue.
