Woodcraft micron pastes
Has anyone tried Woodcraft.com's Micro Fine Honing Compound found here:
http://www.woodcraft.com/family.aspx?FamilyID=3112
or the Green Chrome Oxide Compound here:
http://www.woodcraft.com/family.aspx?FamilyID=4240
Just wondering if these are good deal or not?

Thanked: 2209The second one is made by Formax Mfg in MI. It is to coarse for razors. I researched it several years ago.
The first one is a "maybe". Not many guys have tried that one.
I bought mine from www.handamerican.com and got exactly what was needed.Randolph Tuttle, a SRP Mentor for residents of Minnesota & western Wisconsin

Thanked: 0Am I wrong they have been down a while?
I have been hearing for some time that "HandAmerican" was going to be "coming back soon" - Hasn't it been a pretty long time since they were up, or does it just seem like it?
It also says on the site that they are not going to be offering the selection of pastes that they had before?
If I have a project that I don't want to wait another month for the site to be up, is there any other source ya'll can think of?

I'm sure you can call and have the pastes sent even with the store down. I've used his pastes before and they were nice. From a guy who mixes his own now I can tell you that pre-mixed is a big help!

I've been playing around with Crystalite Diamond Sprays and they sem to be a less messy alternative to pastes. I think it was Randy who mentioned these a year or so ago. Popular for lapidary work and available in the same grit sizes as Amplex. No cheaper though at $20 or so a bottle but easier to apply evenly.
Anyone tried chromium oxide powder mixed with water or alcohol and applied by spraying?

Thanked: 4What made you pick that make, Tony? The fact they quote how many carats are in each bottle unlike many other makers or because they use 6 carats per bottle instead of 1 or 5 like some others?
