    Default Zulu grey

Thinking about buying a Zulu grey 3x8 for final finishing of my razors after my Naniwa SS 12k. I would get the slurry stone to work with a light slurry as recommended by others on the forum. Two questions: From those who own one, would you buy it again? And do you think I would be able to notice a difference in the shave off the Naniwa 12k vs. after the Zulu grey? (with stropping before shaving of course).

Of course it is up to you, and of course I am a hypocrite for saying so considering how many hones I have, but you really don't need it. You are new to honing and shaving if I remember right, so the relatively subtle differences between the edges off of the two hones likely will be lost on you.

If you want it because you think it will make much of a difference in your shaves, then forget it.

On the other hand, if you have the money and you really want it, then go for it!

I might use it in place of the Naniwa SS 12k but probably not after. If it was my money I would be looking at various paddle strops and CrOx or other ultra fine stropping pastes. To me you could probably sense the improvement more from a pasted paddle strop than adding the Zulu to what you already have.

Read Glen's signature line, mit says it all, the Zulu, will produce great edges " in the right hands" will it be better than the 12k naniwa? Probably not. When you have honed a few hundred blades on the Nani, and start getting the most out of it then you might be able to make a preference, of course you will have to do the same leaning curve all over on the Zulu, and also if you get a Zulu that will get a better edge.
I have a Zulu, got it then sent it to glen to find out where it sit I. A progression and to get the most out of it, his advise use one or the other , and I have a couple of razors that it makes a difference on, but not in my hands,, learn the one you have, hone acquisition , is just that, it's what you want , more than need , a perfectly good edge can be had from a good 8 k Tc

The Zulu has a learning curve associated with it & I don't slurry with it.
Spend a lot of time learning the 12K,,, then someday try the Zulu.
