Thanked: 10A curved wedge
Hi
picked up a Wade & Butcher wedge razor.
While trying to work the blade on my stones I noticed the edge was not getting full coverage.
On further examination I found the spine has a curve, just a few thou.
The edge seems to follow.
I understand the rolling X stroke will work on the outside of the curve.
But what should I do on the inside of the curve.
I am not sure the curve shows in the pic but it is there
I am using a soft, traditional strop that seems to conform to the curve.
The second pic shows the pattern produced on a flat stone.

Think of sharpening a pocket knife, or any knife, with a clip point. You have to do a sort of roll and raise one end or the other during the stroke. With a razor with a warped spine, a curved edge/spine the trick is to keep the edge and the spine parallel to each other throughout the stroke. IME. If you're experienced at honing razors in general, and using circles in particular, you can do circles in each area to get work done faster. If you're not experienced with circle honing just stick with the X rolling stroke.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Thanked: 10Hi
I think I may have beaten the blade, no not with a hammer :<)
I used a traditional leather soft strop.
It seems to conform to the curve. I think I have a shave able edge. I will try it.
