Anyone get squeaky hones?
Was putting heavy pressure on a blade I'm trying to correct (another topic I'll be starting) while traveling up and down my Chosera 1k and I was getting a nails on a chalk board type squeak.
At first I thought it was getting loaded with steel particles and so I used the rubbing stone to clean the surface, same sound.
Still squeaked after a minute of dmt lapping too.
Thoughts?

If somebody was was rubbing a long piece of steel across your head, you'd be squeaking too.

Isn't a chalk board "abrasive",,, meaning that the Chosera may be made up of some of the same material that makes up a slate type of blackboard?

Thanked: 481I get it often on my naturals. Not so much on my synthetics. But I imagine Nortons are constructed much differently than Naniwas. I wouldn't worry about it too much, as long as the stone was doing it's job. But that might be a good sign you're being too heavy handed on it.

Thanked: 522Check your tape if you are using tape. It might be rolling up under the spine and scraping the bare spine on the stone. Just a thought

For some reason the edge is vibrating (No sound without vibration) Some thin blades do it most of the time. Change the speed of your stroke to see if it goes away.
