I've found the same thing, the blue seems to form its own slurry. I don't use it alot, I prefer the Norton 8K which is way faster though the result is a nicer bevel from the blue.

I think you need to have a variety of hones in your arsenal. You always find some razors that just seem to work better with different media. If one doesn't work great you can always try another.
