Shaving Edge
I wanted some help with pictures of my razors edge. In the first picture I believe I can see the minute teeth. Can you ?
This edge shaves well and comfortable. In the first picture I believe I can see the minute teeth. Can you? There will be a second picture. For comparing edges but I would like to know what minute teeth look like. They are suppose to be small saw like teeth that do the cutting. Thanks for your help.

Thanked: 3795Those teeth don't really exist. They were the product of speculation and were/are a simple means to try to understand what is going on at the edge.
The reflection near the edge is different from that of the rest of the bevel, which indicates that your edge is not yet optimal.

Also if you are looking at the top picture on the left side of the blade that silver reflection of light is a light trick from the polar riser thing on the microscope that is suppose to take the light reflection out but doesn't always work out

Thanked: 3226I don't know that I would want to use a polarizer to view an edge through. I want to see reflections from the edge to see if my bevel is really set. Just a thought.

Thanked: 3226That being the case, then if you magnify the edge enough you are seeing microscopic things, teeth, that are not really relevant to getting a good shave. At a lower mag level if you saw the same things it may have an impact on how the blade shaves. An edge only needs to be so good to shave well and comfortably.

Okay take a look at this edge it is the same razor but more time on the hone to change the edge. It to leaves my face comfortable but yesterday it seemed to take a few extra passes on the chin area to do what the rougher looking edge shave in a single pass. I can't really compare things good. That is why I needed you guys to look but the minute teeth maybe better than a smooth pretty edge.
