Default Can I lap my Shobu with sandpaper?

    Hi guys!
I just received a gift from a good friend. A Shobudani.
The stone is good and flat right now, but I don't have and cannot afford a full sized diamond plate for lapping right now.
I lap my synthetic stones with 800 grit wet/dry on plate glass. Can I use the same procedure with the Shobu?
Thanks very much for your help.

If it is good and flat now, then it should remain so for at least several years.
