I see where you're going and lean towards a rounded edge. Theoretically, if that issue happens and is severe enough, it will still be point contact with incredibly small surface area. I fell that rounded edges are easier to maintain and I had an issue when I thought I had good chamfered edges on a stone. One of my razors would chip on one stone, I think it was my 8k. I adjusted the edges to rounds and never had that problem. I wouldn't lap the chamfers away completely right off the bat if the majority of the stone is fine. Just round the chamfer corner that concerns you.
