You can see Microchipping at 60 x, though it can be difficult depending on the lighting.
What you have to look for is the cause, some edges will shave just fine, some will leave your face raw.
The red, Iron Oxide is said to be 3-5 um, the black. Graphite, 1-3 um, and pure Chrome Oxide is .50 um.
I have had good results for years with SRD Chrome Oxide, as well as .50 CBN. But as I said, if the shave is working for you…
It is not just about micron size with paste, the substrate, amount of pressure and the steel and grind of the razor all affect the edge performance with paste.
A good test for Micro Chipping is to lightly drag a QTip along the edge, if it snags it is chipping.
