Pakistani razors?
Hi everyone ,
Just curious does any one have any experience honing and using a razor manufactured in Pakistan?
What are your experiences
What is the reason they seemed to be frowned upon?
Nope, I don't have a Pakistani razor

Thanked: 1The steel is terrible; it simply either won't take or hold a shaveable edge.
It'll leave your face feeling worse off than having tweezed your beard out.
I'd love to know of there is anyone out there who actually does manage to shave with one of these blades.
Some ebayers have been more honest and sell "straight edges razors" and specify using the blade for open envelopes and other tasks requiring a sharp object, no mention of shaving. It's remarkable. They sell Zeepk kits, strop and all, as if you can really use the stuff.

Seriously, check out that auction for the blade, soap and "bursh." Maybe the soap will work at best.Last edited by Friggin Joe; 06-14-2007 at 06:31 PM.

I have 4 scars on my face from my pre-srp days. The steel was too soft and coarse grained to take a proper shaving edge, so it would skip, go out of control and cut me. I ended up using it for experimentation and then I threw it out. Get one if you like scars and razor burn.

The Kamisori is on par with the Pakistani razors as well. I have a combination Kamisori letter/birdseed container opener.
Wonder if Amy will read this one? LOL.

Thanked: 2209It boils down to poor steel and poor grinding.
The steel has a large grain size so it feels kinda like sandpaper on your face. They also seem to be heat treated poorly and that can account for the inability to hold an edge.
The grinding is not even so they do not lay on the hone properly thus honing them is a real chore.
Ask me how I know this!Randolph Tuttle, a SRP Mentor for residents of Minnesota & western Wisconsin

Wow, go away for a few months, and the topics are the same - But, not to put too fine a point (or edge) on it, Pakistani razors are utter crap, and good only for... well, letter openers work well, but I once started a thread discussing their potential uses. Shaving wasn't one of them.
