Add a layer , wear it down then add a fresh layer. Well I never..
You learn something new every day (nearly)
Is it me or are full hollows consistently less warped than other grinds?

Thanked: 13245:
Did you also know that the skin of a Tomato actually changes thickness according to the heat and frequency of watering ???
I did not until two years ago
Plus to be honest when I actually tried it seriously, I found that razors straight from the buffer would slice and dice Tomatoes with ease....

Well, if I was to have to drag one side off the edge of a hone, I would either correct it ........Or make a wind-chime clanger out of it.
Is best for shavability and maintainability to make it right.
To me, it is a must to give it what it NEEDS.......NOT what it WANTS!

We have to realize that the common 'hone wear' on many old wedge-grind razors, (sometimes incredulously obvious),
is indeed 'pasted strop wear'.
It is all over the place, no geometry about it.
Pasting a strop goes back to the very beginning!
It has to be dug-through and normalized to a great extent to get a good bevel. Lots of work!
Thinner grinds subjected to the same abuse are junk and will always be. Too thin for all that.
No restoring those, for the most part.
Nice un-abused thinner grinds will usually always respond nicely!

Thanked: 3795I've seen a couple of those wind chimes at Charlie's place and in both cases, my immediate reaction was "Hey, i could fix some of those!"
