I thought that you had 99.5% nailed it until I saw the burr/fin in the Norton pix.

Actually, to my eye that is not a burr or fin. I think it is a part of the 4k bevel that does not go all the way to the edge. That is why I asked about the taping. If the tape near the heel end of the spine wore down, that would cause the edge to not reach the hone.

Possibly fresh tape & a few more strokes will correct that.

Two new layers of tape on the 2k and then 4K. I was having trouble getting good coverage on the toe (pic #4), and ended up doing more strokes on the 4K.

The shots are heel to toe, toe to heel, for each set, BTW.

I can work on the 4K some more tomorrow.

Yep. Looking at it on this monitor, I can see that now. A few strokes short of perfection.

I was only thinking in terms of honing until I read this; but you just had to take it to the gutter.

    Good job!

Did quite a few strokes on the 4K. I think I may have had too much pressure (trying to do the rolling X). I lightened up a bit and it seems better. Here's where I'm at now.

Still looks like a few light horizontal lines, and the middle is better on the right side (when looking at the edge with the heel towards me.
