Thanks Mainaman. I think that is the answer I was looking for. I recently started trying to refresh my razor. I bought a Naniwa 12k Speciality stone and tried refreshing the edge but it only felt sharp for the beginning of the shave then it would tug a little. It would still shave bit not as it should. I convinced myself I hadn't done anything wrong and that I was using light pressure. I was wrong. I sent it back to my honer who said it had been refreshed with too much pressure and described exactly what your answer was. Upon looking through his magnifier he could see scratches above the bevel more so on one side. I will try again but with 'Butterfly kisses' Hopefully I'll get there in the end.
    Marshal and strangedata like this.

Hi Euclid440. I'm using an unknown Solingen 5/8th's round point bog standard Solingen really on a Naniwa Speciality 12K stone.
