Thanked: 15So...Am i doing this right or wrong?
I've been shaving with straights for a while but only began honing with a stone on my own 1.5 years ago. Previous to that I used sandpaper. And before that shavettes.
Could i ship a "shave ready" razor to someone to give me some feedback? I'll pay shipping both ways.

Thanked: 3795If you are in the US, you can ship it to me. I will examine it under a microscope. If I see anything that stands out as wrong with it, I will make a video of a microscopic examination of the entire edge. If nothing does stand out, then I will just do a shave test with it.
If I feel that it can be improved, then I will touch it up if you wish.

Thanked: 3795What are you using for honing?
Most importantly, are YOU satisfied with your shaves? I suspect that you are just wondering how your honing stacks up to everyone else's.

Thanked: 15I have a Chinese Waterstone I think it's 3000 Buy 7000 or 4000 by 8000.
I am definitely satisfied with my shaves meaning my razors are sharp enough to get a comfortable smooth shave. But like in anything in life there's always room for improvement and it can be difficult to identify how to improve in a vacuum. I can shave with the grain or against the grain no problem. The question is how could I be better and how does my sharpness compared to what I would consider an expert.
I'm happy to cruise along just as I am. But that's no fun. I want to improve. And hopefully having someone else look at my version of shave ready can help me understand what I need to do to improve.
