There it is, I could not remember whom posted about the one stone method. Euclid 440 glad you chimed in Sir.

Thanked: 3215Here’s a post on removing a chip and setting a bevel on a Naniwa 12k Super Stone.
In about 80 circles and 206 half laps total, about 20-30 minutes from start to finish.

Thanked: 0Excellent, thanks for linking that post. I hadn't considered the increased cutting power of circular strokes because of constantly changing angle. Cool. Appreciate it guys.

Thanked: 481I've seen something similar with the suehiro 20k. I've done similar things with natural finishing stones.
Really it comes down to patience and maybe a little skill. Might take a little more time than a proper full progression, but you can get where you need to be with just 1 stone in a lot of cases.
Especially synthetics. Like Euclid's thread shows, even the high grit ones remove more steel than perhaps we give them credit for.

Thanked: 0Stone was lapped and corners beveled. I spent maybe 20 min on the 10k last night before shaving, like 15 minute or so with circles, and then the last 5 doing x strokes from 30 down to one per side. Stropped on weave and leather and delightfully, it's the smoothest I've felt yet! :-D Big smile emerged on first sideburn WTG pass as there was virtually zero sensation of tugging.
I think then in my zeal, I buckled down and tried for the closest shave I've had yet. Definitely got the best results under my chin ever (using the off hand V-spread tightening hold I read about here), but cheeks weren't record setting. Oddly, a few more nicks than usual, but the least irritation I've felt so far post-shave despite the few extra blood dots. All in all I call it a victory and thanks again all for replies!
