Edge so sharp that you can taste it?
Have you ever noticed the sensation of tasting steel during/after a shave?
This has happened to me a few times. Solingen full hollows. Finished on Translucent's .Last edited by Hirlau; 03-10-2017 at 01:30 AM. Reason: Changed to a description that is commonly understood in honing discussions.

Thanked: 3795Apparently all my razors are too dull for me to experience this synesthesia.
And, please, let's not call them trannies!

Thanked: 481No, but I have created so much steel dust filing, polishing, and honing that I think I'm starting to become magnetically reactive.

I've not had the sensation while shaving. But it can occur with metal absorption though the fingertips, or underneath the fingernails. Or perhaps you had some standing swarf or corrosion on the blade? Rusty water definitely tastes like metal. Plumbing maybe?

Is this a symptom of a stroke?

Thanked: 55Maybe you are the Michael Jordan of shavers? You need to keep that tongue in your mouth while shaving. I'm not down with that in any event.
Maybe a video is called for.Last edited by Hirlau; 03-10-2017 at 01:22 AM. Reason: Inappropriate for this particular forum.

I knew that most of that was coming...
It's odd. Usually connected to weepers or a small cut. Some sort of very minor bloodletting.
It's a 'taste' experience but the blade is never in the vicinity of my tongue.
My hones do not require their own bathroom, thank you very much.
