I acquired a couple of barber's hones from eBay and Tilly and thought that I could put them to good use touching up a razor that was shaving well, but could be better. I had asked Lynn about doing a pyramid between my Little Devil barber hone and my Tony Miller pasted paddle with 3 micron paste. He said to go for it, and I did. First, let me preface this by saying this was my very first attempt at "honing" and the razor was pretty well honed to begin with, but I noticed a couple of nicks in the toe and thought that I could even that edge out.

I did 4 rounds of 20 circles on the Little Devil to work out the nicks; which it did nicely. Then I did a pyramid of 1/3, 1/3, 1/5, 3/3 between the Little Devil (which is around 4k-6k) and the 3 micron diamond paste (about 8k). The bevel was very nice and bit into my thumbnail easily. The HHT wasn't great so I did another round as above minus the circles and the HHT went much better, grabbing and cutting the hair.

For the finish I did 5 laps on a finer barber hone, 10 laps on the 1 micron paste and 20 on the .5 micron chromium oxide paste. Popped hairs quickly and easily on my arm. Planning on shaving with the razor in the morning for the ultimate test.

No real question here, just chronicalling my experiment. Thanks for reading. And, let me know if you have any suggestions.
